'Messi deserves record fourth Ballon d'Or'

'Messi deserves record fourth Ballon d'Or'

Posted: 29 November 2012 Time: 03:30 pm

Uefa president Michel Platini says Messi, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2009, 2010, and 2011, deserves to win it again.

The Barcelona attacker currently shares the record of winning the prize three years in a row with Platini, a former France international.

"Records are there to be beaten. If he wins it again, it's because he deserves it," Platini told Ouest-France.

"He's still only 25 years old and has every opportunity to leave his mark for all eternity."

Fifa and France Football announced the final three candidates for the 2012 award today, with Spain-based trio of Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta the final three.

The Ballon d'Or will be awarded on January 7.

Messi deserves all the accolades. Like Mourinho proving himself in different countries, I'd like to see Messi playing in England,Italy etc. Just to see how he adapts. This in no way should take away that he's the best player at the moment.

they should rather give it to iniesta.....because in all honesty,Ronaldo has been better than messi last season in all competitions La Liga/Continental Tournaments(Copa America/Euro) ......so just to ensure that we are fair, iniesta Won the Euro and was second on the Log in La Liga thus he is the closest to Ronaldo

messi is the God of football, and gods are eternal... 4 times is more like he wwas just warming up.... he will take this award until they elevate the stadard, that is they would soon have to compare Messi's genius with that of gods! He is too much for mortals such as CR7 or Fossils such as Pele... only Maradona can claim his nearness!

Ndips

all those players who prefered to be drunk instead of playing football, we could have seen atleast one of them competing with the likes of Messi,Christiano and Iniesta. the likes of Jabu Pule, Steve Lekoelea, Skapi Malatsi and others. Damn those boys could have given Messi a hard time.
===============
I agree with you sir... Jabu Pule was just phenomenal, a wizard, to me he outclassed every SA player, contemporary or old... that was until Heineken took over!

@Miyelani19861208:

Messi was the Player of the Year in La-Liga...
He also won the Euro Golden boots & Pichichi (La Liga top scorer)....

so, how can he (CR7) be better than him - individually... beside winning the la-liga with Madrid?

Its time for Niekseen to give Jabulani Shongwe a freedom of expression as an attacking player not as a central midfielder.He can revived the form he displayed against platinum stars during his time at Puktawana.The boy is a gem.if u don't believe me,watch him at your tube.He is highly rated by Ted Dumitru as great ball player.The questional is,is central midfield a best position for him? give him position no 10,Lionel meisie match him with pace only,but you will never doubt his skills,ball intelligence, and techniques.He is probably ,one of the best player that as SA has ever produced.
